About the Author, Rukiya McNair
I took my first plane ride at the age of 3. Growing up, my family and I traveled more frequently than most people I knew, this was thanks to my father’s job at a major airline. Flying for free was indeed a great perk. We went to so many places, Canada, Bahamas, Jamaica, Hawaii…you name it. However, it wasn’t until after I graduated college that I traveled solo for the first time. I moved to Jakarta, Indonesia for a year to teach ESL, and this move changed my life. After returning back to the United States, I never again saw “home” the same way. I now knew that there was more more for me elsewhere…more peace and more adventure.
Since living in Jakarta, I have lived in St. Croix, Puerto Rico, Bahrain, Bali, Thailand, Rwanda and now Tanzania. I am delighted to have the opportunity to share the world with my children and I love to help others find ways to do the same!
